Rebuilding Cities Where Cities Were Born

From August 27 to 30, 2026, Erbil Build Expo 2026 was held in Erbil, capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. Shandong Jianmei Aluminum Co., Ltd. presented its architectural door, window, and curtain wall profiles at the exhibition, receiving multiple groups of buyers from Iraq and neighboring countries over the four days and meeting with long-standing clients to discuss contract renewals.
A City Six Millennia Old
At the heart of Erbil stands an oval citadel — the Citadel of Erbil, believed to be among the longest continuously inhabited places on Earth, with a history of more than six thousand years. In 2014, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In other words, the land where human civilization first built cities is right here. Ur, Babylon, Nineveh — these names from between the Tigris and the Euphrates defined the very word “city.”
Millennia later, this same land needs to build its cities anew. In late August 2026, at the international fairground in the shadow of the ancient citadel, Erbil Build Expo 2026 opened its doors: 470 exhibiting companies from 20 countries, with representatives from multiple Iraqi ministries — including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and the Ministry of Electricity — attending the opening ceremony and touring the halls. This was an exhibition about rebuilding.
Three Numbers That Measure “Rebuilding”
46.118 million. Final results of Iraq’s 2024 census (released February 2025, the first full-coverage count since 1987) show 60 percent of the population of working age and urbanization above 70 percent — housing and infrastructure demand has only begun.
3 million homes. The Iraqi Contractors Federation says at least three million units are needed to close the gap; UN-Habitat estimates 2.5 to 3.5 million. The National Investment Commission has announced a USD 25 billion housing program.
250,000 units per year. The annual new housing the government says is needed to keep pace with population growth. Every home needs doors, windows, and curtain walls — a demand curve measured in decades.
From the Yellow River to the Two Rivers
It is for this demand curve that Jianmei Aluminum has come.
The Tigris and the Euphrates gave rise to humanity’s first urban civilization; the Yellow River gave rise to Chinese civilization. Millennia later, the stories of these great rivers met inside an exhibition hall: on one side, a homeland waiting to be rebuilt; on the other, the quality and delivery capability that Chinese manufacturing has refined over more than two decades.
From Dubai, Moscow, Bangkok, and Jakarta to Erbil today, Jianmei Aluminum’s global expansion has always followed real market demand. Walking alongside this land’s reconstruction is not a slogan — it is a qualified profile, a window delivered on time, a contract honored as promised.
